American Airlines signs up with Galileo
With the addition of American Airlines to Galileo’s Preferred Fares Select Program, the company offers travel agents full content from six of the top US carriers, Galileo says. American Airlines recently signed a three-year term in exchange for reduced booking fee rates. Continental, US, Delta, United and Northwest have existing agreements with Galileo in a program that the company says reduces their distribution costs and locks in rates for three years on all US-originated bookings. “American gains a three-year rate lock and lower distribution costs while Galileo-connected agents secure greater access to all published fares, including Web fares, through the channel of their choice,” said Mitch Gross, vice president and managing director of Galileo Americas Client Services. Galileo introduced its Preferred Fares Select Program last July to combine the strengths of its previous Preferred Fares and Momentum programs. The expanded content will be automatically available to all Galileo US point of sale travel agencies and other subscribers such as corporations using Galileo.
