American Airlines slam dunks sponsorship deal with LA Clippers
American Airlines has teamed up with the Los Angeles Clippers to become the team’s official airline sponsor.
The multiyear deal will see American’s logo displayed on the court during home games and it will be a featured sponsor during in-game TV and radio broadcasts.
"This momentous partnership with American Airlines marks a strategic development in Clippers history," said Clippers President of Business Operations Gillian Zucker.
"We are pleased to welcome American Airlines to the Clippers family as the Official Airline of the Los Angeles Clippers. We look forward to working closely with American to strengthen their brand with the Los Angeles community."
"We serve more customers out of LAX than any other airline, and what better way for us to partner with the team that shares our vision of going for great than the Clippers," said American’s vice president of global marketing Fernand Fernandez.
American has been boosting its presence at LAX and now operates almost 200 flights a day to 55 destinations.
Employees based in Los Angeles "will also have the opportunity to take part in festivities and events with the Clippers during the season," American said.
The airline also announced a similar sponsorship deal with the Chicago Cubs two weeks ago, taking over from rival United Airlines.
