American Airlines to end ties with two more regional carriers

Thursday, 08 May, 2018 0

American Airlines is ditching two of its regional airline partners, ExpressJet and Trans States Airlines.

Citing a letter addressed to booking agents, American will not renew service contracts with the affiliates when they expire in 2019.

It says the move will create a more ‘seamless experience’ for customers of its mainline network and regional feeder service American Eagle.

American also ended its ties with regional affiliate Air Wisconsin earlier this year.

The current ExpressJet service will be handled by its parent company SkyWest Inc. and Trans States operated routes will be covered by Envoy Airlines, American spokeswoman LaKesha Brown told Bloomberg.

Following the end of the two service contracts the number of regional affiliates contracted to serve American routes reduces to seven.

The airline says the changes won’t affect passenger operations.

"The transition from these carriers is going to be seamless for our customers," Brown said.
