American charges $25 for paper tickets
American Airlines has increased its fee for paper tickets to $25 in the US, in another price hike.
The airline originally charged $10 when it implemented the fee in April 2001, but doubled it to $20 in June.
The fee applies whenever an e-ticket is available for a ticket purchased from any American location, or from agents in the US or Canada.
American plans to scrap the use of paper tickets completely for domestic flights by March and for international services by next December.
An airline spokesman said around 70% of travel on the airline is done on e-tickets and, of the remaining 30%, about half qualify for an e-ticket.
