Amex and CWT on recruitment trail
American Express has appointed an ex-Sabre executive to a senior role in its UK and Ireland Business Travel division.
Stephen Etchells will take the role of vice president and general manager, Business Travel, UK and Ireland from Pearse Reynolds, who has side-stepped into the role of vice president Business Transformation for Europe.
Mr Etchells joins from his own consultancy business, Change Highway, and previously he was senior vice president and managing director, of Get There, Sabre’s business travel arm.
Commenting in his appointment, senior vice president and head of business travel Europe, Ron DiLeo said: “In his new position, Stephen will play a pivotal role in further developing both our online and offline business, and working to forge closer partnerships between clients, suppliers, distribution agents and technology providers to ensure that we continue to meet our clients’ needs at this exciting time for the UK industry”.
Rival business travel firm, Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), says an upturn in the industry has led it to appoint three within sales and account management staff.
Ex-Cathay Pacific corporate sales manager, Matthew Selby and ex-Lunn Poly shop manager Deborah Hagan have been recruited. CWT’s own Tony Peckham, who has been with the company for eight years, has been promoted to account manager.
