Amora to make sure it succeeds in Sydney

Only a short time after the launch of Amora’s new hotel in Sydney, The Mole called by and caught up with David Bowen, Executive Assistant Manager and Robert Miletic, Director of Sales and Marketing at Amora Jamison, who are charged with making a success of attracting business and the operation of the very contemporary hotel.

While previously the Meridien and subsequently the Rydges Jamison, interestingly the hotel is still owned by the same person, a Thailand based operator, who has shown his commitment to the property by deciding to take on the management, cutting out hotel operations companies.

Amora owns and operates seven hotels in New Zealand, Australia and Phuket with the main objective of the Sydney based team to build brand awareness of the hotel and attract more MICE business.

Robert told The Mole that they have a very strong corporate and leisure business base, but really want to build the MICE side and it is that they will be working on, with the NZ based sales team for example attending Dreamtime in Queensland this weekend.

David added, “We opened the doors in 2000, with the hotel very contemporary in style with 415 fabulous rooms, but the hotel maintaining a boutique yet contemporary feel, not feeling like abig hotel.”

He added, “The ownership has not changed in that time, while the management companies have, but it is testimony to the owners and their commitment that Paul Burkett, the GM left Rydges after 14 years to stay at the hotel and I have also stayed her along with most of the staff”.

The Mole looks forward to hearing much more about Amora and its management team in the coming months and years!
