Andy Murray’s new hotel wins top accolade

Tuesday, 29 Apr, 2014 0

Tennis champ Andy Murray’s new 15-room hotel has been named Luxury Hotel of the Year just weeks after taking its first paying guests.

Judges of the Scottish Hotel Awards said the five-star Cromlix, which has been totally refurbished since it was bought by Murray last year, was "a national treasure".

Awards chairman Gary McLean-Quin said: "This superbly balanced combination of solid investment, vision and hugely experienced management has made Cromlix the unanimous choice of judges this year."

They also paid tribute to Murray’s mother Judy who they said "has undoubtedly played a great part in this transformation".

Murray bought the hotel, three miles from his home, in February 2013. The Victorian mansion is set in 34 acres with its own private chapel where his brother Jamie got married in 2010.
