Another death in Faliraki
The Faliraki saga continues with the news that another British tourist has died in the resort – this time from a suspected cocaine overdose.
The 25-year-old man suffered a series of heart attacks and became the third Briton to die on the island in three weeks; one man was killed after falling under a dustcart two weeks ago, while last week a 17-year-old died after being stabbed in the neck in one of the now-notorious resort’s bars.
In another new development, police officers from the British resort of Blackpool have flown out to the island of Rhodes to help the Faliraki police deal with the bad behaviour of some of its visitors.
The mayor of Faliraki welcomed the move, adding that “any help was appreciated”. He told the Independent newspaper: “We don’t have a problem with holidaymakers from Britain, we only have a problem with the 10, 15 or 20 who cause trouble.”
