Another plane diverted after bomb scare
Yet another aircraft has been diverted after a bomb threat – this time, a Virgin Atlantic plane flying from Hong Kong to Heathrow airport.
According to the BBC news website, the plane landed at Stansted Airport at around 05.30 today following a bomb threat in a telephone call.
The aircraft has been taken to a secure part of the airport, where it has been cordoned off by police.
The flight was carrying 214 passengers and 18 crew, according to Virgin.
A spokesman reportedly confirmed that the flight, VS201, was diverted into Stansted as a precautionary measure. He is quoted as saying: “The aircraft and passengers are now subject to full security checks by the appropriate authorities.”
