ARC: double-digit increases
Statistics from the Airlines Reporting Corp’s (ARC) showed continued strength in air travel.
For the second consecutive month, the number of transactions processed by ARC increased by a double-digit percentage over the same month in 2003. Total ARC-processed sales reached $5.5 billion in April.
International fares processed were 60 percent higher than in April last year, and only half a percent lower than in the same month in 2000, considered a banner year for the travel industry.
The average weekly sales volume per accredited ARC travel agent and corporate travel department location has grown in each of the last twelve months over the previous year.
While the number of ARC-accredited locations dropped by 12 percent in April 2004 compared to the previous year, the average weekly sales per location grew by 39 percent.
