Arrests in connection with Diamond Shortbreak Holidays fraud inquiry
A man and a woman in their 30s have been arrested in connection with an inquiry into the collapse of Diamond Shortbreak Holidays.
According to a report in the Leicester Mercury, the two have been questioned over an alleged ‘internal fraud’ at the Market Harborough firm which failed in March.
A spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police told the local newspaper: “Police are investigating an allegation of theft and false accounting relating to a business in Market Harborough.
“Two people have been arrested in connection with the investigation and released on police bail pending further inquiries.
“The offences are alleged to have happened between March 2015 and February this year.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
According to Companies House, Diamond became aware in early March that ‘over £700,000 of funds had been misappropriated’ from the company.
Suffolk-based Arena Travel has since acquired Diamond’s cruise and rail holiday businesses and has rebranded them.
