P&O Cruises’ oldest and smallest ship Artemis is to undertake a special farewell cruise before leaving the fleet in 2011.
The final 14-night voyage, which will visit cities including Barcelona, Monte Carlo and Rome, goes on sale in December 1.
P&O Cruises announced last month that 1,200-passenger Artemis was being sold for an undisclosed sum.
The Artemis farewell cruise will include Champagne sailaways, a special jazz and classical music festival at sea, commemorative memorabilia and surprise guest entertainers, “all chosen to give Artemis the send-off she deserves,” according to company managing director Carol Marlow.
Departing Southampton on April 12, 2011, the itinerary is: Southampton, Gibraltar, Alicante, Palma, Sorrento, Rome (from Civitavecchia), Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Southampton.
Marlow said: “Artemis is one of the best-loved ships at sea, so it is only fitting that her final voyage be a celebration of her time with us.
“Whilst the itinerary will include iconic ports, I am certain that for her passengers, the highlights will be the on board celebrations and the chance to bid farewell to a dear friend and remember happy times on board.”
Named by Prunella Scales in 2005, Artemis has visited more than 270 ports of call, travelled 470,000 nautical miles and will have carried over 100,000 passengers.
