ASTA announces Latin America expansion
The American Society of Travel Advisors is expanding into Latin America.
It hopes to gain new members in the region and also help forge new relationships with businesses there for its US members.
It will start by building partnerships in Peru and Costa Rica.
Both countries are allowing Americans to visit quarantine-free from next month.
"In the wake of Covid-19, our entire industry has had to pivot. At the same time, building trustworthy business partnerships remains integral to our travel advisor members," said ASTA CEO Zane Kerby.
ASTA also plans to ramp up activities with webinars and agent fam trips in Latin America.
It will develop new partnerships to expand awareness of ASTA’s role and its members in the region.
It plans to focus on expansion in Brazil and Mexico in the near future.
The expansion is led by Roberto Morales, as ASTA’s new Associate Vice President for Latin America.
"I see this partnership in Latin America as a big opportunity for ASTA. Tourism is suffering worldwide and, in our region, we’re looking for qualified travel buyers. Developing relationships now will help travel advisors meet the demand of interest in these destinations," Morales said.
