ASTA appoints communications VP
The American Society of Travel Agents has appointed Jennifer Michels vice president of communications, with immediate effect.
Michels brings over 20 years’ experience from a journalism background in travel and transportation.
She joins ASTA from the Transportation Trades Department, an organization of transportation unions where she held the post of director of communications.
She has covered transportation, travel and tourism during a 20-year journalism career including a decade in travel agent-specific issues for travAlliancemedia publications and Travel Agent Magazine.
She was welcomed by ASTA CEO Zane Kerby, who said: "Jennifer’s breadth of knowledge of the business and leisure travel make her a good fit for our team, and we look forward to Jennifer’s contribution to one of ASTA’s most important objectives: promoting the value of using an agent to the traveling public."
