ASTA Global Convention going ahead as virtual event
The American Society of Travel Advisors’ annual Global Convention is going virtual for the first time.
Taking place from August 25-28, it has been renamed ASTA Global Live, and will livestream general sessions.
Some educational sessions will focus on post-Covid rebuilding.
"Initially, we struggled with the idea we wouldn’t be able to see each other in person, but there will be dynamic, interactive content," said ASTA president and CEO Zane Kerby.
The trade show element will continue with one-on-one virtual appointments with more than 100 suppliers.
Speakers include transportation secretary Elaine Chao, guidebook author Rick Steves, and Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president & CEO of Celebrity Cruises.
August 27 -28 is ASTA Small Business Network Live.
ASTA will offer some pre-event sessions to familiarize advisors with the new concept.
Kerby said the annual advocacy dinner has been pushed back to October in Washington D.C.
