ATEC summit attracts industry chiefs
SYDNEY – The new MD of Tourism Australia, the former CEO of Tourism New Zealand and two men who fought their way across the Tasman Sea in a rowboat are among speakers at Australia’s biggest tourism conference later this month.
The Australian Tourism Export Council’s (ATEC) Symposium 2010 conference is being held Hobart between April 20-23.
Said ATEC Managing Director Matt Hingerty, “The industry is coming to terms with the opportunities posed by technological innovation.
“Operators are also slowly starting to see signs that the effects of the Global Financial Crisis are easing in our key overseas markets. The symposium will help delegates position themselves to profit from the expected upswing in demand and tourist numbers in years to come.”
Symposium 2010 keynote speakers include:
• Hon. Martin Ferguson MP – Federal Tourism Minister
• George Hickton – former CEO, Tourism New Zealand
• Hon. Steven Ciobo MP, Shadow Minister for Tourism, the Arts, Youth and Sport
• Chris Richardson – Access Economics
• Andrew McEvoy – Managing Director, Tourism Australia
• Allana Corbin – inspirational speaker (search-and-rescue crash survivor)
• James Castrission and Justin Jones – Inspirational speakers (crossed the Tasman Sea in a rowboat)
ATEC Symposium 2010 will also include a full-day Backpacker and Youth Industry conference on Tuesday April 20 and a series of market breakouts focusing on the Eastern, Western and Emerging markets respectively.
