SYDNEY – The Australian Tourism Export Council’s (ATEC) Symposium 2010 conference will bring almost 600 key industry players to Hobart from April 20-23.

ATEC managing director Matt Hingerty said that the symposium conference programme was a signpost to some of the ways the tourism sector could look to prosper following the global financial crisis.

“The industry is coming to terms with the opportunities posed by technological innovation,” Hingerty said.

“Operators are also slowly starting to see signs that the effects of the global financial crisis are easing in our key overseas markets.

“The symposium will help delegates position themselves to profit from he expected upswing in demand and tourist numbers in years to come,” Hingerty said.

Plenary and breakout session topics will include:

– Building a national tourism brand

– Aviation 101 – everything you wanted to know about aviation but were afraid to ask

– Driving Dispersal – developing the road well travelled

– Distribution – you can’t stop progress

– Tourism Australia’s Strategic Plans

ATEC Symposium 2010 will also include a full-day Backpacker and Youth Industry conference on April 20 and a series of market breakouts focusing on the eastern, western and emerging markets respectively.
