ATP wins ABTA Convention travel brief
ATP International is to organise travel arrangements to this year’s ABTA Travel Convention in Morocco.
The travel management company’s groups division has been appointed to handle travel for the Marrakech event on November 24-27 – the third successive convention organised by ATP following those in Palma in 2003 and Orlando last year.
Sales director Adam Knights said: “To win the confidence of ABTA once again says a lot about the team and the way they have coped with one of the most demanding jobs in the industry.
“To look after the travel needs of nearly 2,000 delegates – all travel experts of course – is quite daunting and requires exceptional professional skills as well as maintaining the right attitude from the first recce to getting the last delegate home safe and sound.”
ABTA head of corporate affairs Keith Betton was involved in ATP International’s reappointment.
He said: “ATP hit the ground running with their first convention in Palma, our 50th conference. They are a very well organised team and are invaluable in the planning process, costs, quality control and support during the conventions.”
Elaine Dellar, head of CO Plus and convention organiser for ABTA since 1995, said: “2,000 travel delegates is quite a handful. ATP thinks through possible problem areas well in advance – that way they nip most of them in the bud. And they really care when it’s all happening – not only at the conference but also at all the hotel sites and on the tours enjoyed by the delegates.”
