ATTN travel agents: are you looking at this rapidly growing market?
Theme cruising that ranges from music lovers to motorcycle aficionados is rapidly growing in popularity
"Coupled with heightened awareness about the cruise experience and more clients adding cruises to their bucket lists, the timing to capitalize on this trend has never been better," said Jo Kling, president of travel agency Landry & Kling.
The variety of themed cruises is very broad to include scrapbooking devotees, dedicated golfers and even cruises for chocolate lovers. Faith-based cruises are often said to be one of the fastest growing but any activity is likely to have a cruise named for it.
The cruise lines certainly are not missing the trend toward special-interest cruises.
For instance, Crystal Cruises will offer 12 different themes on 25 cruises this year, more than one-third of the line’s sailings. Themes include NFL Legends, floral design, golf, wine and food and ballroom dancing.
