Audley Travel: Vietnam and Cambodia the top two-country destination
Vietnam and Cambodia are a top pick for adventurous UK long haul holidaymakers, says Audley Travel.
Google data from the past 12 months shows that Vietnam paired with Cambodia is the most popular two-country combination.
This is followed by Sri Lanka and the Maldives, in joint second with New Zealand and Australia.
“Both Vietnam and Cambodia are home to centuries-old temples, an array of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and an abundance of ultra-fresh cuisine,” says Audley Travel Southeast Asia specialist Mark Robinson.
“A great way to travel between the two is via a cruise along the Mekong River.”
It is also one of the best value long haul holiday combinations to be found in Asia.
Vietnam’s revised visa policy has also made it much easier for travelers to spend longer and explore further.
Audley Travel’s Australasia specialist Lee Felton explained why New Zealand and Australia are often paired together.
“Australia and New Zealand’s tapestry of climates, wildlife, and cultures complement each other very well.”
“The long journey means many people don’t have the luxury of making two separate trips.”
Combining Sri Lanka and the Maldives offers a compelling contrast, says Audley Travel Indian subcontinent specialist Joe Parks.
” Sri Lanka boasts an extraordinary variety of action-packed experiences, from spotting elusive elephants in the wild to strolling around cave temples.”
“In contrast, the Maldives is all about relaxation with luxurious resorts nestled on powder-soft sand.”
The top 5 most popular multi-country destinations are:
Vietnam and Cambodia
New Zealand and Australia (joint second)
Sri Lanka and Maldives (joint second)
Singapore and Malaysia
Thailand and Vietnam
