Australia safest destination: poll
Australia is the country in which travellers feel safest, a readers’ poll by UK luxury travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller has found.
Australia rated third behind Italy and New Zealand in the poll of the most popular country of destination, with a ranking of 94.44 percent.
The ranking was based on reader satisfaction with travel facilities and services, calculated by scores on criteria such as service and value for money.
Sydney, with a score of 93.17 percent, placed third as the most popular overseas city behind Rome and Barcelona.
While Melbourne finished 10th overall on the city poll (85.60), it took honours as the most user-friendly, with a score of 88.24 for that category.
Sydney Airport was 10th on the list of the world’s airports.
In the poll of the world’s best overseas business hotels the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney was 15th (83.60) and Grand Hyatt Melbourne was 19th (80.40)
