Australian, NZ cricket rivalry hits new heights

Celebrating 100 days before the start of the cricket World Cup 2015, four cricket legends have taken cricket to new heights with a game taking place on top of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

The unique exhibition match saw Kiwis Stephen Fleming and Chris Harris take on Australians Andy Bichel and Damien Fleming on the 43 metre-high bridge to mark the 100 day countdown to the action.

Brisbane-based Andy Bichel, a member of World Cup winning Australian team in 2003 said: "It’s a privilege to come to New Zealand and play on the bridge, it’s a unique venue. Playing on the bridge to mark 100 days doesn’t happen every day."

The bridge itself is one of the icons of Auckland and home of the world’s first harbour bridge bungy jump.

"You play your career but you don’t think about playing on a bridge!  It was definitely unusual but equally amazing batting on top of such an iconic structure," says Stephen Fleming.

In 100 days’ time, Australia and New Zealand jointly host the tournament from 14 February to 29 March 2015 with Auckland will host four games.

These include the New Zealand vs Australia match at Eden Park on 28 February; Pakistan vs Zimbabwe on 7 March, India vs Zimbabwe on Saturday 14 March and one of the two semi-finals on 24 March.

New Zealand will play host to 23 matches in total, offering cricket fans from England, Ireland and Scotland the opportunity to combine a memorable holiday with great sports action.
