Australian tourist killed in Argentina
An Australian tourist has been shot and killed during an attempted robbery in the Argentinian city of Mendoza.
The robbers tried to grab the man’s backpack, an Argentinian news channel reported.
Local media said the Australian was walking with two others near the entrance to the Malvinas Argentinas stadium when he was involved in a struggle with two men on a motorbike.
The Australian man, believed to be in his 30s, was shot in the chest and neck and died at the scene.
Two witnesses – an Australian woman and a French man travelling with the dead man – have given statements to police.
