AVIATION AND TOURISM PR SPECIALIST URGES
TRAVEL INDUSTRY TO START PLANNING FOR RECOVERY
Asia Pacific Public Relations, a specialist communications consultancy to the aviation and tourism industries in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, today urged travel companies to start planning for economic recovery – or miss the boat when consumers start spending again.
Australia-based Asia Pacific launched a new website – www.asiapacificpr.com.au – as part of a broader strategy to highlight to the travel industry the growing importance of maintaining or commencing PR programmes during the global economic crisis.
Asia Pacific Director Tony Harrington said that now, more than ever, it was crucial for airlines and other travel businesses to maximise exposure of both their brands and their products.
“Times are tough, but every storm must come to an end,†said Mr Harrington. “Our message is simple. Now is the time to start positioning for recovery, so that when customer confidence returns, your brand and your product are already well known.
“As well, by commencing or continuing your awareness programmes now, customers who intend to spend later can include your products and services in their travel research today,†Mr Harrington said.
“By the time the economy recovers, many of these customers will have made their travel decisions, and if your company is not being considered now it might not be considered at all.â€
