BA aims to “keep the flag flying” through strikes
British Airways claims to have flown to all its short haul destinations and 85% of long haul points in the first of five days of strike action by cabin crew.
All Gatwick and London City Airport services were unaffected yesterday as cabin crew started the first of a wave of five-day walk-outs as part of a long running dispute over pay and work conditions.
The airline did not detail the actual number of flights cancelled from Heathrow yesterday.
The airline is emphasising its efforts to limit disruption by painting a "Keep the flag flying" slogan along the fueslages of ten Boeing 777s at Heathrow and two 777s at Gatwick.
The message is designed to underline the carrier’s efforts to continue flying throughout the 15 days of strikes planned by the Unite union.
