A British Airways appointed tour operator offering tailormade holidays and city breaks has ceased trading.

London-based Travel Definitions ceased trading on Friday, according to the CAA website.

The holiday firm, which ‘creates holidays and city breaks for the independent intelligent traveller’ also offers rail holidays through its sister company Railbookers.

Calls to the operator were this morning being diverted to Railbookers, a Travel Trust Association member ‘celebrating 12 years’ on its website.

The same address was also on both operator websites.

The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that Travel Definitions has ceased to trade, adding that it is currently investigating the matter.

It confirmed that eight passengers are currently abroad but would be unaffected as the holidays had been paid for.

There were 250 forward bookings with the company.

It advised customers not to cancel or make alternative arrangements as their holiday may still be protected.

On the CAA website it said: "Consumer information will be posted early next week.  In the meantime please do not cancel or make any alternative arrangements as your holiday may still be provided."
