BA blames BALPA for failed Gatwick LCC plan
British Airways has axed plans to launch a new LCC business at London Gatwick, blaming failed negotiations with the British Airline Pilots’ Association. The airline is ‘disappointed’ it couldn’t agree conditions for the short-haul subsidiary at Gatwick.
BA only announced plans a month ago. The airline says a LCC no frills operation was needed at LGW ‘after many years of losing money on European flights from the airport.’ It will now look at ‘alternative uses’ for its slots at Gatwick.
