BA prepares for next wave of strikes

British Airways is reassuring customers they will get to their destinations despite the next wave of strikes by cabin crew.

The airline’s mixed fleet crew are due to walk out from this Sunday to Tuesday, and then again from Thursday to Saturday.

The strike is part of an ongoing dispute over so-called ‘poverty pay’.

Unite has accused the airline of refusing to offer a reasonable pay deal to its members, yet spend money ‘hand over fist’ on chartering in aircraft to cover striking cabin crew.

The crew have so far staged two stoppages resulting in five days of strike action.

BA said all flights to and from Gatwick and Luton will operate as normal, and ‘vast majority’ of flights to and from Heathrow will operate as normal.

"As part of our contingency plan, we will be merging a very small number of flights to and from Heathrow on some of the days of industrial action," it said.

"This will mean some customers will travel slightly earlier or later in the day than their original booking. Affected customers are being contacted with the options available for them."
