BA targets affluent leisure customers with cheaper premium fares
British Airways is targeting well-off leisure customers with cheaper fares on long haul premium routes.
New Club World fares apply to bookings made at least 21 days in advance to 22 leisure destinations including Barbados, Orlando and Mauritius. The same tickets on other long haul routes must be bought at least 42 days in advance.
The new First fares are available to 17 mainly leisure destinations and have to be bought 21 days in advance.
A return flight in Club World now starts from £1,467 to Dubai, saving £446 on the previous lowest available fare. A Club World fare to Tampa starts from £1,975 return, saving £1,201.
No changes or refunds are permitted on the new fares and there is a minimum Saturday night stay.
British Airways General Manager Leisure Sales Andrew Swaffield said: “These are fantastic new affordable fares for our Club World and First cabins. They will benefit our valued leisure customers who can plan ahead, book in advance and will not need to change their booking.”
Meanwhile BA is blaming the early Easter for a 10.8% fall in April traffic compared to the same month last year. The decline comprised a 3.4% drop in premium traffic and a 12.4% in economy.
