BA to launch direct flights to Austin
British Airways is to be the only airline to offer direct flights to Austin from March 2014.
This will be the airline’s third route to Texas in addition to Houston and Dallas.
It will initially fly five flights a week before moving to daily flights on May 5 using the airline’s new Dreamliner.
Lynne Embleton, British Airways’ director of strategy, said: "The addition of the Airbus A380s and Boeing 787 Dreamliners to our fleet enables us to start new routes and increase services to a number of our destinations."
"In the pioneering spirit of the Lone Star state, we are flying there in one of the world’s most advanced aircraft, the 787, to encourage more business with the scores of hi-tech businesses based in Austin’s ‘Silicon Hills’".
From March 2014, flights to Seoul in South Korea will increase from six services a week to daily and from winter 2013, three flights a week are being added to Accra in Ghana.
British Airways will also increase connections from London to Tel Aviv and Seattle in summer 2014.
