BA to move Gatwick short-haul flights to Heathrow
British Airways is shifting all its short-haul flights from Gatwick to Heathrow until September.
The airline said only a ‘small number’ of long-haul flights will operate from Gatwick from mid-July.
A spokeswoman said: "Throughout July and August, we’ll be consolidating our Gatwick and Heathrow short-haul flying to operate from our Heathrow base."
It was revealed in April that BA was considering pulling out of Gatwick altogether.
The airline is looking at cutting costs and shedding 12,000 jobs.
The spokeswoman said moving the majority of its summer flights from Gatwick to Heathrow would be more cost efficient.
"We’re proactively letting customers know and recommend checking their booking on ba.com prior to travel," she said.
Virgin Atlantic is also considering moving flights from Gatwick to Heathrow.
