BA to restart Kuwait flights today
UK: Resumption of flights signals move to reinstate Middle East service
British Airways will today resume flights from London Heathrow to Kuwait City, after suspending the service during the hostilities in Iraq.
The airline has stated that it intends to reinstate its full Middle Eastern service as soon as possible and follows last week’s change of advice on the region from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). But instead of offering its normal daily and direct service to Kuwait, BA will run three flights a week – on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays – via Larnaca.
Mike Street, director of customer service and operations, said in a statement: “We remain firmly committed to resuming our full flight schedule between the UK and the Gulf region as soon as possible. The reintroduction of services to Kuwait is an important step towards achieving this.”
He added: “We will only fly to a destination if we are satisfied totally it is safe to do so. The safety of our customers, our staff and our operation remains our absolute priority.”
