BA traffic figures follow familiar pattern
British Airways has published another set of disappointing traffic statistics for July and warned once again that the market outlook “continues to be soft.”
Passenger capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres, was 12.1% below July 2001 while traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres, fell by 12.9%.
Once again capacity cuts failed to match the fall in demand, with the airline’s load factor down for the second month in succession – falling by 0.6points to 76.5%. In June BA saw a fall in its load factor of 0.4points to 74.8%.
Premium traffic was down by 12.1% compared to the same month last year, while non premium traffic fell by 13%. In the previous month premium traffic was down by 13.2%, and non premium by 13.1%.
