BAA forecast 2% growth from UK airports
BAA has forecast growth from its seven UK airports of just over 2% in the 12 months to March 31.
In a trading statement, the airport operator said 133.2 million passengers had passed through its UK terminals in the eleven months to February 28.
Allowing for the later Easter holiday this year, it estimated full-year growth of 2%.
Including Budapest and Naples airports, it handled 145.1 million, up 3.1%.
BAA said its retail business is also expected to deliver growth in net retail income per passenger of around 2%.
But operating costs are expected to rise 8% due to higher staffing costs, energy prices and business rates.
BAA chief executive Mike Clasper said the forecasts were in line with expectations.
“[It is] a good result given the impact of a softer UK economy and increased security requirements,” he said.
The integration of Budapest Airport, which is acquired for £1.255 billion in December, and the ongoing development of Terminal 5, which it said was on schedule and on budget, were also going well.
Its full-year results will be announced on May 16.
