Backpackers hitting the jackpot in Vegas
In slow-go Las Vegas these days, discounted prices are so common that hotel employees report even backpackers are checking in.
Rooms for under $20? No problem.
The Sahara and Circus Circus are offering rooms for $20 to $30 at off-peak times. The Sahara has rooms as low as $24.99.
"Everyone in Vegas is giving it away," said Las Vegas Advisor publisher Anthony Curtis.
Vegas hotel rates slid 24.7 percent January through September, compared to the same period in 2008, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority says.
Restaurants have also discounted prices. The Gold Coast’s lunch buffet is $7.95 for players’ club members, for example.
Even tickets to popular shows are costing less.
