Bad weather forces ferry cancellations

Thursday, 18 Sep, 2018 0

Brittany Ferries has been forced to cancel its Portsmouth to Cherbourg crossing this morning due to the bad weather across the channel.

All other services are operating as normal.

Meanwhile, P&O said its ferries are operating on time or within 15 minutes of schedule.

The Met Office has issued further weather warnings in the north of England and Scotland for tomorrow (Wednesday).

It said gusts of 65-75 mph are possible as Storm Ali hits Northern Ireland, Scotland, northern England and parts of north Wales tomorrow, possibly rising to 80mph in exposed regions, such as the coastline and high ground.

It warned that road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.

There could also be power cuts that might affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage, and injuries and danger to life from flying debris.
