Bad weather forces ferry cancellations

Sunday, 15 Feb, 2016 0

Brittany Ferries was forced to cancel sailings between the UK and Northern Spain this weekend due to anticipated bad weather, which caused some disruption to families’ half-term travel plans.

Its Santander to Portsmouth sailing, due to leave Spain on Saturday evening, left Friday at 2.30pm instead.

A scheduled sailing between Portsmouth and Bilbao on Saturday morning and a sailing from Bilbao to Portsmouth on Sunday afternoon were cancelled.

The ferry operator said that due to the disruption to its Spanish services, it had created two new sailings on its Portsmouth – Cherbourg route.

The Baie de Seine left Portsmouth at 10pm on Saturday, arriving into Cherbourg at 8am on Sunday. It will depart Cherbourg at 10pm tonight arriving into Portsmouth at 6am on Tuesday.

All other services operated to schedule.

Brittany apologied for the inconvenience caused.
