Balearics launch winter tourism campaign
The Balearic Islands tourist board has launched a new campaign to attract visitors outside of the main summer season.
The ‘Better in Winter’ campaign is designed to persuade British holidaymakers to experience the islands at a ‘more authentic’ time of year.
A new magazine will highligh events and activities in the Balearic Islands that appeal to visitors from October through to May.
"These are the times of year when our guests can really get under the skin of the destination and experience a truly authentic and heart-warming holiday," said vice-president of the Balearic Islands Gabriel Barcelo.
"These are the months that are most enjoyed by the locals, away from the crowds and offering a more relaxed pace of life."
The Balearic Islands welcomed more than 3.3 million UK tourists between January and September 2016, representing a year on year increase of 9.5%.
Menorca saw the biggest growth in UK visits with more than 486,000 British visitors representing a 10.3% year on year increase.
Mallorca welcomed 2.1 million British tourists (+ 9.9%) whilst Ibiza and Formentera welcomed over 778,000 British visitors (+ 8.1%).
