Bali flights returning to normal

Flights into and out of Bali were returning to schedule today while authorities continued to monitor a volcanic ash cloud in the region.

Virgin Blue advised passengers that “as a precautionary measure all flights to and from Bali have been cancelled this morning”.

The airline said the decision had been made based on advice from the Darwin Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre.

“We are awaiting further advice from the Centre before we make a decision on flights that are scheduled to fly to Bali later this afternoon,” Virgin Blue added.

An Air Asia flight from Denpasar to Perth arrived on time from
Denpasar at 4am this morning and returned to Bali at 4.50am.

A Garuda flight to Denpasar departed Perth and a Jetstar flight, scheduled for 10.05am, was due to depart at 11.10am.

Elsewhere in the region, flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bali were operating normally, although Singapore Airlines cancelled two flights to Denpasar as a precaution.

Several flights to Bali from Australia were cancelled yesterday due to worries about the spread of the ash cloud.
