Bali to beef up security
Bali is planning to add an additional 1,000 closed-circuit television cameras at sensitive seaport and airport locations throughout the island.
At present, Bali has monitoring cameras hooked up at 12 strategic and often tourist-heavy locations.

“There will also be additions at Ngurah Rai International Airport and Benoa,†said Nyoman Silanawa, who heads the province’s National Politics and Public Protection Bureau.
The Nusa Dua Bali Tourism Development Centre is funding the instillation of 68 CCTV units in the resort enclave.
Bali Police spokesman Cmdr Gede Sugianyar Dwi Putra said the installation of the cameras has changed the way law enforcement operates on the island.
“We have prevented many incidents, including crimes against foreign tourists,†he said.
Bali’s governor recently warned that over-population of the island was leading to an escalating number of social problems.
