Bamboo Airways hopes to spread its wings to Munich
New carrier Bamboo Airways isn’t letting coronavirus fears curb its expansion plans.
The Vietnamese airline plans to start flying to Munich, Germany in the summer.
It plans to serve Munich from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Bamboo signed a MoU with Munich Airport and plans to operate from Hanoi once a week and from HCMC twice weekly.
"The new connections to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will give us direct access to this important future market for the first time. This is the excellent response to the steadily growing interest in Vietnam as a travel destination," said Andreas von Puttkamer, SVP of aviation for Munich Airport.
Bamboo will operate 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the routes.
The airline’s first long haul service to Europe kicks off later this month to Prague.
According to the airline’s deputy general director Bui Quang Dung, other European destinations are being looked at for a possible launch later this year.
