Bangkok continues to simmer
Tension is escalating in Bangkok as protestors continue to target government buildings in their bid to oust prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
In the latest incident, protesters have forced the evacuation of Thailand’s top crime-fighting agency.
The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has also been under siege.
The demonstrators accuse the Thai government of being controlled by the prime minister’s brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, who is in self-imposed exile.
On Wednesday, hundreds of protesters surrounded the Department of Special Investigations, which is Thailand’s equivalent of the FBI in the United States.
Staff were ordered to leave as protesters surrounded the building, Reuters news agency said.
The prime minister has called for calm, saying the government would not use force against protesters.
