Bank Holiday rail strike called off
Rail unions have called off a national strike intended to disrupt the Bank Holiday weekend after receiving a revised pay offer.
The news that members of the RMT and TSSA unions had shelved their 24 hour walkout, due to start on Bank Holiday Monday, came after rail operators including Virgin and the Heathrow Express had already announced plans to axe services early next week.
Many train services are now expected to run to schedule on Monday and Tuesday.
Virgin trains, which runs services on the East and West Coast mainlines, said its normal timetables have been reinstated.
