Bank holiday strike threat

Wednesday, 27 Aug, 2009 0

Strike action threatens disruption to TAP Portugal flights this weekend.

The industrial action is being threatened by several of the airline’s airport ground service providers in a dispute over pay.

It would affect TAP’s ground operations at all Portuguese airports and result in possible delays or flight cancellations.

Customers who must fly on the days of the threatened strike are advised to travel, where possible, with hand-luggage only.

Passengers wishing to change flights may do so free of charge.

Date changes are subject to availability on passenger’s chosen flights and may be done by contacting TAP at 0845 601 0932.

Customers wishing to cancel their travel plans may opt for a full refund by contacting their travel service provider.

"Though currently at a deadlock, TAP management is conservatively optimistic that all parties involved would return to the negotiating table enabling them to reach an agreement amenable to all concerned thus averting a possible work stoppage," it said in a statement.

"The airline also apologises to its customers for any inconvenience and flight disruptions the strike may cause."
