Banyan Tree raises the stakes
MACAU – The Galaxy Entertainment Group has scooped another major brand in Asian luxury hospitality by signing a hotel development and management contract with the Singapore-listed Banyan Tree Group.
This follows its recent signing of Japan’s Hotel Okura. Both will operate hotels at Galaxy’s megaresort in Cotai, due to open next year.
Banyan Tree, which has forged a reputation as a high-class operator of 23 boutique resorts and hotels across the world, and 64 spas, will design and operate 254 rooms – mostly large suites – and 16 villas with their own private pools and cabanas.
“This partnership with Banyan Tree will strongly complement our existing plans for the Okura Hotel and our own Galaxy hotel, clearly positioning it as the most prominent Asian destination resort in Macau,” said Galaxy’s chairman, Lui Che-woo.
“For Banyan Tree, we are very excited to have found the right platform to enter the Macau market,” said Ho Kwong Ping, executive chairman of Banyan Tree.
