Barbados courting church groups with new Delta airlift
Delta Air Lines’ recent resumption of Atlanta-Barbados flights is the ideal platform to lure faith groups to the Caribbean island, a tourism official says.
During a media briefing, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism Irene Sandiford-Garner cited Atlanta’s megachurches such as Andy Stanley’s North Point Community Church which has a congregation of thousands.
Sandiford-Garner said Barbados tourism could benefit massively if marketed effectively to these churches with huge followings.
"Delta flying out of Atlanta offers a tremendous opportunity for the religious tourism operatives," she said.
"It offers a tremendous opportunity to the promoters of Gospelfest and all the other festivals that we have within the Christian calendar."
Barbados Gospelfest 2015 takes place from May 23-31.
