Barbados hotelier Patricia Affonso-Dass has been appointed President-elect of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA).

Affonso-Dass, group general manager at Ocean Hotels in Barbados, was elected to succeed Karolin Troubetzkoy next year when her two-year tenure ends.

Affonso-Dass runs the Ocean Hotels group, a family-owned company in Barbados which is made up of Ocean Two Resort & Residences, the all-inclusive Sea Breeze Beach Hotel and and South Beach Hotel.

She has also been president of the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana and the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association.

"We have benefited from Patricia’s talents on our Board of Directors, and are proud to have an exceptional woman from the region lead our association into the future," said current president Troubetzkoy.

Affonso-Dass’ appointment was unveiled at the CHTA’s AGM, which was held alongside the Caribbean Hospitality Industry Exchange Forum (CHIEF) and Taste of the Caribbean in Miami last week.
