Battle for the early birds takes off

The gloves have come off as the battle to attract 2013 early bird flyers from Australia to Europe heats up.

Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific have launched their early bird fares in the last few days.

Emirates has unveiled return Economy fares to the UK starting from AUD1586 and to Rome from AUD1843.

Also on offer are Middle East, African and USA destinations.

Emirates’ bookings must be completed by November 30 and are available for travel between February 1 and October 31, 2013.

Singapore Airlines’ early birds are on sale until November 30 for departures from March 1 to October 31, 2013.

Special extras include a 30kg baggage allowance as well as the option of one night’s accommodation in Singapore on the way to or from Europe for one dollar per person, twin share, at selected hotels.

Cathay Pacific fares start from AUD1,646 from Melbourne to Rome in Economy and AUD3,200 from Sydney to Paris in Premium Economy.

On sale from September 13 to December 31, CX flights are available from all Australian ports to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Milan, Frankfurt, Rome and Moscow for departures from April 1 to October 31, 2013.
