BCD Travel acquires majority stake in Japan partner
BCD Travel has agreed to take a majority ownership stake in its Japan operations.
It is deepening its Japan venture with partner Hitachi Travel Bureau and is ‘the result of careful, long-term planning and a commitment to Asia Pacific,’ said Greg O’Neil, BCD’s president of Asia Pacific.
"As the majority stakeholder in our Japan venture with Hitachi Travel Bureau, we look forward to enhancing our product and service offerings."
Kazuhiko Otani, current president of Hitachi Travel Bureau will remain in charge.
Kazuhiko has more than 30 years’ industry experience in the Japan market and will spearhead BCD’s growth strategy in the country.
BCD has made several stake purchase and acquisitions in recent years across the globe including Acendas Travel and World Travel Services in the US, Nordic travel agency Ticket Biz, and UK-based events agency Zibrant.
BCD Group generated total sales of US$29.8 billion in 2018 with a presence in 109 countries.
