Accountancy firm BDO will handle the liquidation of Flight Options. Meetings are due to take place in early September.

A statement by the firm says: “Malcolm Cohen and David Gilbert of BDO LLP have been instructed by the directors of Flight Options Limited, Flight Options Aviation Limited and Travel Plus Limited ("the Companies") to convene meetings of the Companies’ creditors and shareholders to place them into liquidation. The companies are not currently in administration or in any other formal insolvency process.

“The Companies traded as Flight Options, Kiss Flights, Florida Options, Canada Options, America Options, Africa Options and Travel Plus.”

Malcolm Cohen, business restructuring partner, said: "The business suffered as a result of the challenging economic conditions in the UK travel market, compounded by issues such as the volcanic ash crisis, localised industrial action, and economic factors in Greece together with the collapse of Goldtrail Travel.

“Formal notices will be issued to all shareholders and creditors in due course, formally convening the meetings to place the Companies into liquidation in early September."
